Each week in Downtown Newark, the open-air NDD Farmers Market comes back into town from 11 am through 3 pm running every Thursday from July 1st through October 28th.

The Newark Downtown District is pleased to announce the return of the NDD Farmers Market to Military Park. The number of local vendors have increased from last year, offering even more variety of healthy and fresh produce, baked goods, artisan gifts, homemade soaps, candles and much more!

Enjoy live music while shopping, browsing or meeting with friends every Thursday in historic Military Park in beautiful downtown Newark.

Walk for the health of it! The free and friendly NDD Walking Club has kicked off for 2010!

The Newark Downtown District’s newest program is the NDD Walking Club. Enjoy different routes every day with mile markers and guides to lead you. We’re a FREE, FUN, and FRIENDLY group always looking for new people to join us! Daily walks are tailored to your individualized fitness levels and goals—all you need to do is lace up your sneakers and join us to Walk for the Health of It! So come on down and sign up, and when you do, you’ll get a free sports bag stuffed with a NDD Walking Club t-shirt, water bottle, bracelet, and pedometer.

Welcome to the 2010 GR Dodge Poetry Festival! A poetry Village in the Heart of Newark’s Downtown Arts District

To mark its 24th year, the Geraldine R. Dodge Poetry Festival–the largest poetry event in North America–moves to Newark, the largest city in New Jersey. Join dozens of nationally and internationally acclaimed poets in readings, discussions, and conversations that spotlight the many facets, faces and voices of poetry.

The New Jersey Nets will begin their home schedule for the 2010-11 regular season on Wednesday, October 27, when they play host to the Detroit Pistons, the first of a four-game homestand during 'Premiere Week' at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey that will include an afternoon matchup with the Miami Heat on Sunday, October 31.

In addition to the games with the Pistons and Heat, which usher in the Nets new temporary home at "The Rock", the Nets will also host the Sacramento Kings on Friday, October 29 and the Charlotte Bobcats on Wednesday, November 3. All weeknight games will tip at 7:00 p.m., with the Sunday matinee game against the Heat to commence at 1:00 p.m.

The Heat will return to New Jersey on Sunday, April 3, game time at 6:00 p.m.

The World Champion Los Angeles Lakers make their lone Garden State appearance on Sunday, December 12 for an afternoon contest at 1:00 p.m., while the New York Knicks make their first of two Newark appearances on Saturday night, February 12, with a return engagement on Friday night, April 8. Both games will begin at 7:00 p.m.

The Boston Celtics will make their first of two appearances at the Prudential Center for an afternoon tilt on Sunday, December 5 at 1:00 p.m., and then return to New Jersey on Monday, March 14 at 7:00 p.m.

Jason Kidd will lead the Dallas Mavericks into Newark for their lone matchup of the season on Saturday, January 22, while Richard Jefferson and the San Antonio Spurs will play the Nets on Monday, February 14. Both games will tip off at 7:00 p.m.
